Saturday Night Fun

July 10th, 2006

Matt and I were invited to a party at his friend’s house on Saturday. I was kind of dreading going, but decided to go and make the best of it.

I am soooo happy I went! I had the best time! There were smart, witty 20 and 30 somethings there and that was a treat. I had really great conversations and it was just so nice to have that. I have felt sort of isolated for awhile, so it was really a great time.

Under New Management

July 10th, 2006

I once had a motivational type CD that used guided imagery. One of the exercises related a story of how you try a new restaurant in your neighborhood and the food is mediocre and the service not so great and so you decide that it isn’t really worth going again.

A year might pass and then you notice a sign on the restaurant that states, “Under New Management” so you decide to give it a try. This time the food is fabulous and the service, impeccable.

So it should be now with weight loss. You need to put your body under new management. No longer are inactivity, poor food choices and the like acceptable.

So, as I recommit to my weight loss endeavors, I say:

“This body is under new management.”

Damn, I Don’t Blog Enough

July 6th, 2006

I realized that I horribly neglect my poor little blog. Here it sits all faithful to me and I ignore it for Sparkpeople and the occasional indulgence of Myspace. (Yes, I realize I am too old for myspace, but I happen to have a young friend or two.)

I’ll have to try and pay more attention to my poor little blog.

Sheesh

June 10th, 2006

Just got back from dinner at Chili’s. I love going there when I have a few extra calories to spend, and I always get the Mushroom Jack Fajitas with no tortillas or set up plate. It comes out to be 750 calories without the extras so it is usually a really nice treat.

Well, our dumb server kept hounding me about the extras. “Are you SURE you don’t want any?” “Here’s your fajitas, just like you ordered them, without ANY TORTILLAS.” “Wouldn’t you like to have the sour cream at least??” Even my husband noted her persistence. But when we asked for silverware, well, that seemed like too big of a request for her to handle. Of course, on par with the service, the fajitas were over seasoned and I felt like I was eating a salt lick.

I swear I am going to go on strike and never eat out again.

Checking In

June 6th, 2006

I am proud to report that I have been mostly faithful to my diet and exercise program and have lost 78.5 lbs as of this morning.

I can’t say I have been perfect, but I am learning that the 80/20 rule is a really important one to allow yourself to have some “food fun” once in awhile. It has really helped me to see that I don’t have to be perfect and I can still see great results.

Now, of course, I am going to throw in there that I am on day 6 of a streak, which is something I learned from SparkPeople. I chose a 30 day streak to stay within my prescribed calorie range. So far, it is really going well and I feel almost empowered by it. I feel like if I can control my eating for 30 days through a bbq, camping and probably a couple of other unplanned events, then I know my results will really follow.

20 Percent

April 27th, 2006

I have officially lost 20 percent of my body weight. 23.75 inches are gone from my chest, waist, hips and thigh. Today is a very good day!

Cool New Website

April 19th, 2006

Well, it is new to me, anyhow. It is a totally free online diet service that I think is a GREAT tool for people who need some guidance and who don’t have a lot of money to spend on a diet program. I am thoroughly enjoying the community features and motivational articles.

Enjoy!

Hard Day

April 3rd, 2006

Today my day started with my boss calling me on the phone at approximately 7:45 and asking, “Did you know you were scheduled to come in at 8 this morning?”

In my mind I am thinking, “Well, no, woman, I didn’t turn on my psychic powers this weekend. Last I knew, as of late Friday, I was scheduled at 9.”

Turns out someone called in sick and she just thought she could just change the schedule with 15 minutes notice.

The rest of the day pretty much went like that. I was scheduled to get off at 6, got home around 7:40.

Sigh.

Sick

April 1st, 2006

I have been sick with some sort of stomach virus. I haven’t thrown up in a long time. Like, in at least in a couple years, and if i recall, that was my own damn fault for downing a bottle of wine.

Anyhow, I wouldn’t wish this on anyone. The people at work said it’s been going around and lasts 7-10 days. I’ve been able to keep down food and water today, so hopefully I’ll start regaining some strength soon. I feel like I have been run over, by a very large truck.

I did appreciate the weather today though. I went out on my porch and felt the warm bricks on my bare feet and saw that my daffodils are in bloom. The breeze smelled sweet and it seemed like all is right with the world.

Focus on the positive, right?

Learn How to Spell

April 1st, 2006

I don’t know why this bugs me so much, but I have been reading a couple of blogs, randomly, and goodness knows I am not perfect…

But…

It is spelled definitely, not definately.

There, got it out of my system.
